Penthouse with altana in San Marco and a view of the Salute

Venice is best seen from above, and the altana was born for exactly that. This one, in bleached larch, extends over 45 m² and is reached from the penthouse by a narrow internal staircase: from there you see chimneys, bell towers, the dome of the Salute and, on clear days, the line of the Dolomites. In the evening the bells of San Marco ring at the very moment the sun enters the lagoon.

The 170 m² penthouse occupies the top two levels of a seventeenth-century palazzo ten minutes from the Piazza. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with exposed beams and windows on three sides. The lift reaches the front door, a rarity in San Marco.

Floors are natural oak planks, walls Venetian stucco, the kitchen grey marble. Independent heating, air conditioning, no steps between the street door and the lift.
